A 43-year-old Bristol Township man who allegedly used phony prescriptions to obtain over 59,000 ย painkiller pills and other pharmaceuticals is headed to trial but with fewer criminal charges.

Christopher Kelly waived charges on to Bucks County Court in exchange for the District Attorneyโs Office reducing ย the number of criminal counts from 948 to eight in a plea deal, according to online court documents

According to court paperwork filed by Upper Southampton Detective James Schirmer and Lower Southampton Detective Shane Hearn, Kelly filled hundred of prescription painkiller scripts at pharmacies in Bucks and Philadelphia over the course of two years totaling , police said in over 59,000 tablets of ill gotten powerful medications, such asย : methadone, Adderall, Xanax, Prozac, Oxycodone hydrochloride and Wellbutrin, according to court documents.
Police said, in April Kelly used an embossing device he created to authenticate fake prescriptions.
Investigators spoke with the doctor whose name was being used on the phony prescriptions and he said he only recently became aware someone was using his name, court papers say.

Kelly will face trial on one count each of identity theft, access device fraud, forgery and criminal offenses under the Pharmacy Act, and four counts of acquiring or obtaining possession of a controlled substance through misrepresentation.
Kelly is scheduled to appear in the court of common pleas on September 5
