Man Held Without Bail After Death Of Wife

A Bristol Borough man is being held without bail after the discovery of his wife’s body inside their Wood Street home early Thursday morning, according to court documents filed Friday.

Michael P. Myers, 59, was preliminarily arraigned around 1:30 a.m. Friday before District Judge Brian Marriott on charges of criminal homicide, strangulation, aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, false imprisonment, and intimidation of a witness or victim in the death of 54-year-old Dawn Myers.

Michael Myers was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility and denied bail by the district judge.

Borough police and Bucks County Detectives spent Thursday processing and collecting evidence at 1305 Wood Street, the residence the couple shared for more than 20 years.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, borough officers first responded to the home at 6:09 a.m. Thursday for a residential security alarm. Responding officers checked the exterior, found all doors locked with no visible signs of forced entry or suspicious activity, and received no answer after knocking.

Police were dispatched back to the residence at 6:28 a.m. after a caller reported, “There has been a murder.”

Police and county investigators said the caller, a family member, told dispatchers her husband, Dawn Myers’ son, had received a security system alert, entered the home, and discovered his mother deceased inside a second-floor bedroom.

Police said Dawn Myers had multiple men’s neckties wrapped around her neck.

Dispatch records show a Bucks County Rescue Squad crew arrived at approximately 6:30 a.m. and departed minutes later after confirming the victim was dead.

Amid the second response, police found Michael Myers standing behind the front glass door. A family member pointed at Michael Myers and told an officer, “He did it,” according to police.

Michael Myers allegedly attempted to block her son from coming downstairs after they located the victim, but he struck Michael Myers to get outside and alert law enforcement, police said.

Officers arrested Myers without incident at the well-maintained home, police said.

An officer noted blood on Myers’ wrist and face, along with scratches, red marks, and a hospital bracelet on his wrist.

A law enforcement source and a neighbor said Myers was driven away in a police SUV around 7:15 a.m. He was taken to the borough police station.

According to charging documents, there were home alarm activations just after 6 a.m., which led to the monitoring company to contact the couple, their family, and police.

Ring camera footage showed the Myers did not leave the home between 6:41 p.m. Wednesday and 6:02 a.m. Thursday, when Michael Myers exited, police said.

Investigators stated Michael Myers waited in a white Cadillac SUV outside the residence until family members arrived and police were called.

Authorities later towed the vehicle from outside the home to process it for evidence.

Michael Myers had been “in and out” of the hospital on suicide watch. He was taken to the hospital Tuesday after threatening suicide and was released around 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to court papers.

A family member told an investigator Dawn Myers had stated the hospital released her husband because he was deemed a “low threat,” police said.

County records show the couple married in 2002.

Michael Myers, a longtime borough resident, worked locally as a painter, and Dawn Myers was employed as a controller for an insurance company. She had a career in several finance roles.

The couple’s Facebook profiles feature happy-looking photos with family and friends, including images from a visit to the Paramount Pictures lot in Los Angeles last year.

Bristol Borough Police Chief Joe Moors called the situation a “serious domestic incident” and assured residents there was no ongoing threat to the public before it was confirmed to be a homicide.

Detectives spent hours in the home collecting evidence and mapping the crime scene.

The killing shocked neighbors on the block, where police conducted door-to-door interviews as several people who knew the victim wept nearby.

Irene Houser, a neighbor, said Dawn Myers was such a “lovely person.”

“She was always willing to help everybody,” Houser told NBC 10. “Together, they made a great couple.”

One nearby resident, who asked not to be identified, said Myers was friendly and often waved at her.

“Oh my,” she said upon learning of the fatality. “I can’t believe it happened there.”
