Dave Reifsneider, a co-owner of Georgine’s with his brother-in-law Michael Nagle, told LevittownNow.com the place in the West Bristol section of the township is for sale as the two plan to retire.

“This business is a way of life. We work 7 days a week. We’re married to the business. I love this business, but at this point in our lives, we need more time with our grand kids,” Reifsneider said.

Reifsneider is in his 60s and Nagel is in his 70s.

“We know a business like this isn’t going to sell real fast. You really need the right owner or the right owner team,” Reifsneider said. “We want to know Georgine’s legacy lives on.”

Speaking of the news of the sale, Reifsneider said customers should rest assured the restaurant is staying open and banquets that are booked are safe.

The longtime executive chef said they family that owns Georgine’s is looking for a like-minded owner willing to take the business into the future. He added they want the next owner to keep the core of the business and make needed updates.

“There’s been no thought” to sell it to a housing developer, Reifsneider said.

“It’s going to take a long time to go through with financing and transferring a liquor license, so there’s no need to worry,” Reifsneider said.

The business hasn’t had too many serious inquiries yet, but it only recently went officially on the market.

The real estate listing, which circulated on social media over the weekend, places the value of the 4-acre property, including the business and a liquor license, at $3.8 million. The sale also covers existing banquet and catering contracts.

The listing highlights Georgine’s popularity during major holidays.

Founded in 1977 by brothers Roy and Michael Nagle in honor of their mother, Georgine, the establishment has grown from a neighborhood bar into a full-fledged dining facility that has become known for holiday meal service and catering.

Reifsneider, who began working at Georgine’s at the age of 14 and later became a co-owner, recalls the restaurant’s evolution and the challenges it faced, especially in the wake of the pandemic. He said increased competition in Lower Bucks County, staffing difficulties, and rising costs have all added stress.

“There a lot of good places in the area,” he said.

The sale comes just over two years after the closure of Georgine’s Jr., a takeout location that fell victim to post-pandemic challenges. The former satellite location was sold last year for close to $800,000 and now is in the process of becoming a market.

As Georgine’s looks to its next chapter, Reifsneider and Nagle hope to find someone with the passion and dedication to carry on the tradition that has made Georgine’s a landmark in Bristol Township for more than 40 years.
