The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors has approved the development of two new homes while ensuring the preservation of a parcel of open land.

During the Monday evening meeting, the board voted to consolidate three lots on Jefferson Avenue into two.

The consolidation paves the way for the construction of two 1,034 square foot homes at the site.

The representative for the developer said that the proposed homes would be connected to the township’s public water and sewer systems. As there are currently no sidewalks in the area, the developer will not be building them.

To address the lack of sidewalks, the developer has committed to contributing an amount to the township equivalent to the cost of installing sidewalks.

The supervisors voted to preserve in perpetuity a two-acre lot adjacent to Firefighter Park.

The land was acquired from Comcast in 2022 for $11,500. A $10,000 grant from PECO played a crucial role in funding the purchase.

Paul Kopera, Middletown Township’s Director of Parks and Recreation, said the board’s decision to keep the new addition to the 13-acre Firefighter Park as open space was a necessary step to finalize the grant process.
