PennDOT said the closure of Newportville Road between Zimmerman Lane and New Falls Road from Monday, February 12 through Friday, February 16 has been expanded from a daytime closure to an around-the-clock closure.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured to use Zimmerman Lane and New Falls Road as alternative routes.
Motorists traveling in the area are advised to prepare for travel restrictions.

The closure is needed as the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission prepares for a project to reconstruct the Turnpike bridge over the Neshaminy Creek.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission said the bridge construction project is planned for fall 2024 and will last three years.

The planned bridge replacement in Bristol Township and Bensalem Township is part of a larger project to widen and reconstruct the Pennsylvania Turnpike from Bensalem Boulevard to the I-95 flyover connection.
The section is being expanded from a four-lane to a six-lane divided highway, adding infrastructure for future connection ramps to highways, building new sections of sound walls, and installing stormwater management facilities.
