And now, her legacy has been preserved at Snyder-Girotti Elementary School, a place where she worked for years as a teacher and later the district’s federal programs coordinator and reading specialist.
Recently, the school’s library was dedicated in honor of Gesualdi with a ceremony featuring staff, students, peers, and community members.
Gesualdi’s face is featured in a mural on the wall and a her name on a plaque at the entrance to the library.

Kelli Rosado, the principal at Snyder-Girotti, thanked Gesualdi for her dedication to the students of the community.
“Mary has always had a passion for reading and for books,” Rosado said.

Even though she retired a few years back, Gesualdi hasn’t stayed away from the borough’s schools. She continues to volunteer in the library, runs the book fair, and helps Rosado with federal paperwork she needs to fill out.
Gesualdi, Rosado said, even sat with her and gave her support during a recent audit of the school.
“Snyder-Girotti will always be your home and you are always welcome here,” Rosado said.

Gesualdi’s impact on Bristol Borough doesn’t stop at the end of the school day. She has been an avid volunteer for numerous groups, including Bristol Cultural and Historical Society and Academic Oversight Committee.
Last year, there was a drive-by parade at her house to cheer her up during a fight with cancer.
