Pedestrian Killed In Friday Night Crash

A pedestrian was killed along Route 13, and the striking vehicle left the scene before the driver contacted authorities, police confirmed to LevittownNow.com.

Around 11:17 p.m. Friday, Bristol Township officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of Route 13, which sits not far from the Edgely Road intersection, for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the northbound lanes.

“The preliminary investigation shows that the pedestrian was crossing Bristol Pike (Route 13) from the  southbound lane into the northbound lane in an area that does not have a pedestrian crossing. The  pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle which was traveling northbound Bristol Pike,” police said in a statement.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“The striking vehicle appeared to be a dark vehicle which was last seen traveling northbound on Bristol  Pike,” police officials said.

“A short time after the accident, dispatch received a call from the operator of the striking vehicle.  The operator was identified and the striking vehicle was towed for investigation,” they added.

No charges have been filed in the case as of Saturday.

There was police activity in the area of the crash site for several hours.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Bristol Township Fire Police, the Edgely Fire Company, and the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad.

Route 13 has seen numerous deadly crashes over the past year.

In December 2021, a 52-year-old Bristol Borough woman was struck and killed on Route 13 between Bath Road and Commerce Circle. In the same area in July, a woman was struck and killed. The driver stayed on the scene to cooperate with police. Alexander Mish, 42, of Bristol Borough, was struck and killed while crossing Route 13 in Bristol Borough in November. A pedestrian was badly hurt on Route 13 in Bristol Township on October 14, and a Bristol Borough firefighter was killed during still-unsolved hit-and-run crash while he was riding his bicycle on Route 13 in Bristol Township in June. On November 1, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Route 13 in Bristol Township.
