According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, the river was set to hit 9.4 feet Saturday morning. The river level is set to subside over the coming days.

The Delaware River was swollen by 2 to 4 inches of rain that have fallen over the past few days.

The easily-flooded waterfront in the borough has seen water from the river inch closer as it swelled on Friday.

“Please remove all vehicles from the Mill Street Parking Lot,” Bristol Borough officials said Saturday morning.

River gauges in Upper Makefield and in Trenton showed the river at higher-than-normal levels in those locations.

On Saturday morning, the river had flooded along River Road (Delaware Avenue) in Yardley Borough.

“We always preach, turn around, don’t drown . If you didn’t receive your newspaper this morning, you can figure out why. Fortunately no one was injured,” Yardley Borough officials said.

The recent rainfall caused the Neshaminy Creek to spill its banks on Friday.

The area is expected to see scattered showers – at times heavy – through Saturday.
