A woman was killed Thursday night along Route 13 in Bristol Borough.

The 52-year-old woman, who was not a borough resident but lived in Bucks County, was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of Route 13 between Bath Road and Commerce Circle around 9:45 p.m. She was killed after being struck, according to Sgt. Joe Moors, who is leading the police department.

The woman was walking alone and crossing the busy roadway when she was struck, Moors said.

The striking vehicle stopped, and the driver was cooperating with investigators, Moors said.

The incident happened just yards from where Alexander Mish, 42, of Bristol Borough, was struck and killed while crossing the street late last month. The striking vehicle fled and the investigation is ongoing.

In the same area in July, a woman was struck and killed. The driver stayed on the scene to cooperate with police.

There also have been several serious pedestrian crashes along Route 13 in neighboring Bristol Township. A pedestrian was badly hurt on Route 13 in Bristol Township on October 14, and a Bristol Borough firefighter was killed during still-unsolved hit-and-run crash while he was riding his bicycle on Route 13 in Bristol Township in June. On November 1, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Route 13 in Bristol Township.

Moors advised pedestrians to cross Route 13 at the intersections.

“I strongly urge pedestrians to use the well-lit crossings at intersections. And I remind drivers to follow pedestrian laws,” he said.

Route 13 in the area of the crash was closed until 2 a.m. Friday morning as police investigated the death.
