A vacant Shell gas station will be turned into an automated car wash.
The Falls Township Board of Supervisors approved preliminary and final land development earlier this week for Levittown Car Wash LLC for the conversion of the property at the corner of New Falls Road and Hood Boulevard in Levittown.

Earlier this year, it was revealed at the Zoning Hearing Board meeting that Levittown Car Wash LLC is the company that owns Jr’s Express Car Wash, which operates locations at the corner on New Falls Road and Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Middletown Township and on York Road in Warminster Township.
Jr’s Express Car Wash will remove the four gas pumps at the station and add four vacuum stations under the existing 1,719-square-foot canopy. The current 861-square-foot convenience store will remain and become and office.
“Once renovated and reopened, the car wash will restrict access onto Hood Boulevard during peak commuting hours. However, the car wash anticipates its peak use times to be around lunch time. In addition, the developer is working with PennDOT to offer a one-way circulation pattern into and out of the car wash,” a press release from the township stated.

The new car wash will be automated and allow customers to quickly clean their vehicles.
“That was long overdue,” Supervisor John Palmer said. “It was an eyesore.”

Supervisor Brian Galloway said he was happy to see the vacant gas station site coming back to life.
