A retirement community in Middletown Township is expanding.

At the meeting last week, the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors voted to approve preliminary and final land development for the expansion of the Pennswood Village community on Newtown-Langhorne Road.

Ed Murphy, the attorney representing the retirement community that follows Quaker principles and traditions, said the expansion will add two three-story buildings with 15 independent living units in each. The new constriction will move the total number of living units of the 82-acre campus from 300 to 330.

The facility is reconfiguring other space to create six new personal care units and renovate the skilled care unit, Murphy said.

At the suggestion of the Middletown Township Planning Commission, Pennswood Village is planning to work with neighbors the George School to add a sidewalk to a nearby bus stop that goes through it’s property.
