Hours after the the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers (NFT) membership “voted overwhelmingly” to ratify a new contract, the district released a draft copy of the deal before the Neshaminy School Board votes on it.
The five-year contract that would run retroactively from July 1 to June 30, 2024 includes pay increases of 3.1 percent, 2.4 percent, 2.1 percent, 2.0 percent, and 2.3 percent over its term. The amount averages to 2.4 percent each year.

Salary step increases are included in the pay bumps.
The district expects the new contract to cost $1.4 million per year over the previous agreement that has expired, district spokesperson Chris Stanley said.
The contract also permits the use of “identified secondary teachers to teach up to six instructional periods a day and for the district to have greater flexibility in the design of the academic schedule,” according to a statement from Neshaminy.

The contract also revises language surrounding the annual new teacher orientation program. Per the deal, the NFT will be able to brief new teachers on their role as the bargaining agent.
Last week, the district called the contract proposal a “fair and fiscally responsible contract.” The union has also said the agreement is fair.

The Neshaminy School Board is slated to vote on the contract at their meeting next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Administration Building at Maple Point Middle School in Middletown.
