The members of the Neshaminy teachers’ union voted Tuesday evening to accept a new five-year deal with the school district.

A spokesperson said for the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers (NFT) said exact numbers from the vote were not being released, but the members “voted overwhelmingly” in support of the agreement, which was reached with the district last week.

The specific terms of the contract that would run retroactively from July 1 to June 30, 2024 were not immediately known or released, but the district called it last week a “fair and fiscally responsible contract.”

The district plans to release details on the plan before the school board votes on it next Tuesday.

“We are pleased that our members have voted to accept the agreement and we look forward to the District vote of acceptance on September 24 so that everyone can focus on our core mission of providing the students of the Neshaminy School District the finest education possible,” NFT President Tara Huber said in a statement.

The teacher and union president said the contract ensures “financial stability and security” for staff and is also fair for students and parents.

“NFT leadership and our entire negotiations team has worked tirelessly on behalf of our members to ensure they receive a fair and equitable contract,” Huber said. “Equally important, we’ve worked closely with the District to ensure we have a work environment that is conducive to providing every Neshaminy student the best education possible while providing District taxpayers with exceptional value for their investment in public education across the District.”

The most recent contract expired on June 30.

The latest agreement is the third since an ugly and nationally followed five-year contract impasse that ended in 2013.
