Crews put down the flames that were reported by a neighbor who spotted smoke and fire on a second-floor apartment’s wooden deck.

Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the blaze was caused by a cigarette butt that was thrown by a resident onto the wood deck.

The fire’s damage was contained to the deck and did not impact nearby apartments, Dippolito said.
