The Langhorne tradition of holding a Good Friday cross procession has been going on much longer than the 14 years that Barbara Kelley has been a pastor at the St. James Episcopal Church.

The annual procession through the borough is a way to bring unity to the different denominations in Langhorne. Members from each church come together to carry a cross through town. The group stops for prayers at a number of different places of worship in town.

Friday’s procession began at the Middletown Friends Meeting House and went to the St. James Episcopal Church, Langhorne Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem AME Church, First Baptist Church, and the Langhorne United Methodist Church.

The procession is organized by the Langhorne Area Ministerial Organization, which is made up of pastors and members of several churches.

“We may be different denominations, but there is one Lord and Good Friday is for all of us,” Kelley said.

Nearly 50 people began the procession at the meeting place, but more joined the procession on the route.
