Organizers aren’t sure exactly how many years the Middletown Earth Day Celebration has been going on, but the consistent attendance and enthusiasm seems to suggest that the message of the celebration is being heeded.
The Saturday event at Core Creek Park wasย organized between the Middletown Environmental Advisory Council, the Middletown Beautification Committee and the Parks and Recreation Department along with the support of Bucks County, Falls Township, Hulmeville, Newtown Township and Upper Makefield.

According to Alex Jacoski, the chairman of the beautification committee, the celebration is important so that residents of Middletown and beyond know about the organizations in the area and to learn about important environmental issues.
“It’s great to have people come by that we can just have a conversation with,” said Jacowski.
The celebration offered music, chances to interact with animals, and representatives from local institutions such as Snipe’s farm. Attendees could also receive a free sapling to take home and plant.

“It started with us just giving away trees,” explained Steve Donahue, a member of the environmental advisory council. In addition to getting new people coming through each year to enjoy the celebration, many of the same families come back every year to update the volunteers about their saplings from the year before.
