The iconic Langhorne Carpet Company sign along West Lincoln Highway in Penndel is looking fresher.

The sign for the custom carpet company that has served customers since 1930 was refreshed by the Vital Signs project, a collaboration between Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Mural Arts Philadelphia.

The sign has seen upgrades every few decades but has been in need of an overhaul for the past few years. Weathering faded the hand-painted sign and caused chipping, according to the company.

The Vital Signs crews set up scaffolding recently to refresh the Langhorne Carpet Company sign on the side of the building, which itself is an architectural pioneer in 1907 because of its free-standing roof that has no supporting beams. The design of the building was needed to open the interior of the carpet facility up for the Wilton Jacquard mill inside.

Langhorne Carpet Company has created one-of-a-kind carpets for the White House, numerous celebrities and historic homes and the Netflix original series “House of Cards.”
