The looming threat of severe weather forced officials to postpone the Harry S. Truman High School graduation ceremony that was originally set for Wednesday evening.

Administrators with the Bristol Township School District announced the decision Wednesday after a briefing from meteorologists, which warned of potentially dangerous conditions during graduation ceremony timeframe.

School officials said that while they attempted to move forward with the event, safety concerns took priority.

“We really tried to get the event in, but our latest update from weather experts called for potentially dangerous weather during the window of the graduation ceremony,” the district said in a statement. “We know that this is an inconvenience for many of our families, and we apologize, but the safety of our school community is our foremost concern.”
