Volunteers gathered at the Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol on Saturday in order rid the park of much of the trash that accumulates over time.

There were many representatives from different groups doing different things to clean the park. Some of the groups doing different work included the Greenbelt Overhaul Alliance of Levittown, which worked below the dam , while a kayak crew removed trash from difficult to reach areas, and many people walking on foot grabbing trash that was easily view-able.

โI’m surprised how much people really litter. I just wish people cared more, โ said clean upย volunteer, John Morgan.
Jonathon Barnes, a young man also part of the volunteer crew, was part of the effort for a second year, said that the park looked better this year than it did the last time he helped the imitative.
One volunteer has spent his entire life living in close proximity to the nature center. Kevin Chew has been coming to the nature center regularly for 35 years. โI wish more people would have come out,โ Chew admitted, although he acknowledged that the turn out was still very strong.

โ[There isn’t] as much clutter and trash as I would have thought.โ said Chew.

According to volunteers who regularly work to beautify the nature center explained that there are volunteer efforts to clean the park on the first Saturday of every month. According to volunteers, the cleaning today was held before a concert scheduled for Saturday night.
