A third commercial carrier is expanding the flight options out of Trenton-Mercer Airport.
Breeze Airways, a low-cost carrier based in Utah, announced Wednesday that it will introduce service later this year from the airport, which sits just across the Delaware River from Bucks County.

The airline plans to launch its local expansion with flights connecting the region to three destinations in the South.
Breeze Airways coming to the area airport adds a third option for travelers at Trenton-Mercer Airport, which has long been a home to Frontier Airlines and welcomed Allegiant Air last year.
The airport has been seeking to scale up its operations and attract more commercial service.

Trenton-Mercer Airport is seen by many as a convenient alternative for local passengers who prefer to avoid traveling to Philadelphia International Airport or other hubs.
The new service schedule will roll out in phases:

Starting Sept. 20, nonstop flights will begin between Trenton and both Charleston, South Carolina. The airline will also start a “BreezeThru” service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which offers a one-stop itinerary without a change of planes.
Beginning Sept. 30, nonstop flights from Trenton to Vero Beach, Florida, will be offered.
Then on Jan. 8, 2027, nonstop service from Trenton to Fort Myers, Florida, will launch.
Breeze Airways is marketing promotional deals on the upcoming routes.

“We built Breeze to connect communities the big airlines overlook, and today we’re doing exactly that with these latest additions to our growing footprint,” David Neeleman, the founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, said in a statement. “Travelers in these markets will soon experience what we do best โ affordable, nonstop flights paired with award-winning hospitality.”
The discount carrier was founded in 2018 and started flight operations in 2021.

In marketing material, Breeze Airways touts a fleet of new Airbus A220-300 aircraft and that it currently runs more than 300 seasonal and year-round routes across 91 destinations spanning the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The expansion by Breeze Airways comes on the heels of the recent closure of its budget competitor, Spirit Airlines. Spirit ceased operations after ongoing financial difficulties alongside climbing fuel prices linked to the war with Iran.
