The Chick-fil-A at Lincoln Plaza on Oxford Valley Road closed its doors Wednesday to undergo a complete remodel.

Before shutting down, the fast-food restaurant hosted a farewell lunch for members of the Middletown Township Police Department and other local community members.
The property, which is near Sesame Place and the Oxford Valley Mall, opened years ago as a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop before it was converted into the current Chick-fil-A.
According to a social media post, the refreshed Chick-fil-A plans to reopen to customers in the fall.

Franchisee Dave Heffernan, who owns and operates the location, received approval from township officials last year to redevelop the site.
A company representative who spoke to township officials last year said the rebuild is designed to better meet modern customer needs.

The renovations will feature dual drive-thru lanes, a bypass lane, and order point meal delivery canopies.
In a Facebook post, the franchise encouraged patrons to visit its nearby sister restaurant at 1440 East Lincoln Highway, which is also owned and operated by Heffernan.
“While our doors are closed, you can continue to enjoy some chicken and smiles, with many of the same friendly faces, at our sister restaurant just down the road,” the post stated.
