The Brown family that owns and operates the ShopRite in Fairless Hills was looking to move the store in order to expand a few years. After much thought, the family decided to keep their current location and renovate.

The recently completed overhaul of the entire store allows for more selection in the same size space. The Brown family and local officials proudly unveiled the “state of the art” store, a new beer garden and cafe during an event Wednesday morning.

“We think this is a way to appeal to our suburban customers,” Sandy Brown, co-owner of Brown’s Super Stores, said.

Jeff Brown, CEO of Brown’s Super Stores, said the store was laid out by his wife Sandy Brown and involved a lot of time and planning. He added that updating the store shows how much the family and their company appreciates the “good, hard-working people” of the community.

The beer garden in the front of the store is the first of its kind in Lower Bucks County. The hardwood floored section of the grocery store includes a large beer selection of both common brands and craft beers. The store has also added a Brown’s Chef’s Market and The Wok, an Asian food eatery.

The store also recently opened an American Heritage Federal Credit Union branch and started offering delivery service.

The ShopRite is one of 11 in the Philadelphia area owned by the Browns and was last updated five years ago.

Officials from Bristol Township, where the store is situated, and nearby Falls Township praised the update of the popular grocery store and thanked the Browns for their dedication to the community.

Bristol Township councilwoman Amber Longhitano said she was “trilled with the redesign of the store. State representatives Tina Davis and John Galloway both said the store looked great.

Longtime ShopRite customer and Levittown resident Milt Carter said he thought the cafe and upgrade of the grocery location was a “great addition to this store.”

Jeff Brown proudly touted the store’s efforts to cut down on trash and stopping food waste. He said the store had cut down waste by 85 percent and recently got rid of its trash compactor. The compactor will be replaced with a power generator.

As a way to give back to the community that has supported the Brown’s store for 16 years, the store will donate $10,000 to a local nonprofit. Customers can choose between the Lower Bucks Family YMCA, Levittown Fire Company No. 1, Weekday Nursery School, No Longer Bound, Bristol Township Senior Center and the Destined for a Dream Foundation. Voters can fill out ballots at the store or online.
