SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said the investigation into the crash that left two men in the car with non-life-threatening injuries remains under investigation by the transit agency and Middletown police.

A preliminary investigation by authorities shows the crossing safety equipment functioned properly. It would appear the car drove around the arms and onto the West Trenton Line tracks, Busch said. He added they were unclear why the car drove around the arms.

The train and car collided around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. No one on the train was injured.

Witness Kirk Kelly said the car was on the tracks when the train was coming through the crossing. He confirmed told LevittownNow.com the signal arms were also down.
