Woman Found Dead in County Jail

corrections1A 29-year-old woman was found dead at 5 a.m. Sunday inside the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown.

The woman’s name has not been released, but county spokesman Christopher Edwards said that she was at the facility on for credit card theft. He add added that she had previous been incarcerated in Bucks County.

Edwards said the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the coroner are investigating the death. An autopsy was performed Monday morning and the woman’s cellmates have been interviewed.

In May, LevittownNow.com reported that the county was looking to build a new prison to house female inmates.

County officials are also investigating an assault between two men at the county jail. District Attorney David Heckler said last week that the incident remained under investigation.
