PennDOT Targets Potholes, Cracked Pavement On Trenton Road

PennDOT’s Bucks County maintenance crews were out conducting pavement patching along Trenton Road in Falls and Middletown townships earlier this week.

Helen Reinbrecht, a spokesperson for PennDOT, said the work involved mechanized patching across sections of the roadway.

Mechanized patching, according to PennDOT, is designed to fix targeted areas suffering from severe potholes, extensive pavement cracking, and sunken surface depressions.

A standard patching crew consists of roughly 13 workers supported by a heavy-equipment fleet, including a paver, dump trucks, a roller, and a tack-coat applicator, PennDOT said.

The mechanical patching starts with crews mark the designated repair area, mill paving notches, and sweep the surface clean. Workers then apply bituminous oil along all edges to serve as an adhesive, deposit asphalt patching material using the paver, and finish by compacting the fresh asphalt with a heavy roller.
