An unique convergence of celestial and life-change events happened Monday afternoon.

Joseph and Samantha Stancil, of Bristol Borough, exchanged vows on the day when the sun and moon danced in the sky and created an eclipse that drew crowds to local celebrations, including one at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library along the Delaware River.

The couple said they didn’t plan to get married on the day of the eclipse, but Monday marked their anniversary.

Taking photos outside the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library during the eclipse party, the couple, their families, and wedding party, found themselves sharing their joyous occasion with a larger audience.

The Stancils tied the knot at the Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol Township and then headed to the library’s riverfront property to capture photos.

When asked about the decision to marry during the eclipse, Joseph revealed, “Oh, today is actually our anniversary, and it just happened to be the eclipse.”

The couple only realized two weeks prior that their wedding day would coincide with the eclipse.

“I mean, it’s definitely cool because it’s an event, you know? There’s a lot more people. We actually thought it was going to be too many people, and we’re kind of worried about that, but it actually worked out better,” Joseph said.

Wedding guests were treated to not just a reception but also eclipse glasses to make sure that everyone could safely take part in eclipse viewing.

After the ceremony and photo session, the celebration continued at the Pineville Tavern in Wrightstown Township.

The eclipse certainly added a memorable twist to their wedding and will make for an out-of-this-world wedding album.

The Stancils were not the only ones to marry on eclipse day.

More than 300 couples exchanged vows in Russellville, Arkansas, on Monday during a mass wedding to commemorate the eclipse. The couples said “I do” as the moon obscured the sun Monday afternoon.

In addition, engagements were reported along the path of totality during the eclipse.
