A high-speed chase involving Middletown Township police ended in the arrest of a New York man late last Friday.

The pursuit began after local law enforcement identified a stolen vehicle parked at the Langhorne Square Shopping Center on East Lincoln Highway.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., a Middletown Township police officer noticed a black Acura MDX with New York registration plates in the shopping center’s parking lot.
Police said in court papers that a routine computer check of the plates revealed the vehicle was reported stolen.

Once backup units arrived, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating emergency lights and sirens. However, the driver – later identified as Elijah Silver, 24, of Far Rockaway, New York – fled the scene at a high rate of speed, court papers stated.
Despite active emergency lights and sirens, Silver continued to evade police in the stolen vehicle, authorities said.

Spanning several minutes, the chase came to an abrupt end when the Acura became disabled, forcing Silver to stop in the township, police said.
Officers quickly moved to apprehend Silver without further incident, police said.
Silvers was charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and reckless driving. He was preliminarily arraigned before on-call District Judge Stacy Wertman and held at 10 percent of $250,000 bail.
