Retired Trenton Police Department Lt. Michael Martin has a new gig on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River. He has been named chief of the Tullytown Borough Police Department.

Martin was sworn in at last week’s council meeting with much fanfare.
Martin served a long career in New Jersey’s capital city before retiring. He now joins the borough’s small department to lead the agency into the future.
Mayor David Cutchineal welcomed Martin to the department. He noted that Martin is the fifth full-time chief of the police department in the borough’s 133-year history.

Daniel Doyle, the previous chief, retired last year. He was chief since 2013 and had been with the department since 1997.
Borough officials looked at several candidates before settling on Martin to become the next chief.

While Tullytown Borough is among the smaller full-time police departments in Bucks County, it has long has a good reputation among law enforcement agencies. It’s part-time officers are often hired by larger departments to full-time jobs.
The borough’s police department is a mix of part- and full-time officers. Sgt. Andrew Bunda leads the department’s patrol operations.
Martin joins the department as the borough adjusts with the loss of revenue from the Waste Management landfill that closed within its borders several years ago. Impact fees from that facility helped bolster the borough’s budget for years.
