UPDATE: No Weapon In Pennsbury Altercation, But Panic Ensued

Pennsbury High School’s West Campus was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning due to a reported fight.

Students, staff, and emergency sources said an altercation occurred around 11 a.m. at the Falls Township high school.

The altercation led to a lockdown at the West Campus until the incident was under control, the sources said.

Around 11:40 a.m., Superintendent Dr. Thomas Smith and Principal Reggie Meadows sent a note to parents saying the lockdown was a “precautionary measure.”

The administrators said police responded to the campus due to a fight between students.

“During this time, a student allegedly assaulted a police officer. This resulted in the student being detained and removed from the building,” Smith and Meadows said.

Some students left the building and were being directed back to the high school by police and school district security officers.

A parent from Falls Township said their son, a student, told them there was a “panic” at the school and rumors swirled as the building went on lockdown. Their son reported seeing dozens of kids running from the building as the situation was unfolding.

A Lower Makefield Township parent said their daughter at the school told them some students fled the building in “utter fear” after hearing of an incident in the building.

The administrators said attendance was being taken to make sure all students were accounted for in the buildings.

“Classes have resumed, and at no time were any other students in danger,” Smith and Meadows said.

A resident on Hood Boulevard said they spotted police vehicles responding to the school, but the scene calmed down after a few minutes.
