Scott Michael Mellor, of Middletown Township, was charged late last week with child sexual abuse material, criminal use of a communication facility, and photos, films, or depictions on a computer of a child sex act. District Judge Charles Jonas preliminarily arraigned Mellor, who was released on $75,000 unsecured bail.

The investigation began in July when the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Dropbox reported to area law enforcement that a user had shared suspected child sexual abuse material on its platform.

The Bucks County Detectives and the Middletown Township Police Department traced the file to an IP address located within the township.

Investigators obtained and served a search warrant for the Dropbox account, and they discovered additional illicit files, according to court papers.

In late August, detectives executed a search warrant at Mellor’s residence in the Langhorne section of Middletown Township.

Detectives reported that Mellor exited the home carrying an iPhone.

During questioning, Mellor reportedly admitted to viewing child sexual abuse material and using a Russian website to access the files.

Detectives seized several electronic devices during the search of the home and reported finding more than five child sexual abuse material files, court papers stated.
