The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the man remained in a New Jersey hospital, but they didn’t release his name or further details.
A law enforcement source said the man was badly hurt and his recovery outlook remained uncertain as of late in the week.
Authorities said the incident started early Tuesday morning with a “routine traffic stop” in Falls Township. The man showed officers a handgun twice and fled from Falls Township police.

As this news organization previously reported, police made the traffic stop along Lincoln Highway. The man then fled and led officers on a pursuit that ended in the area of New Ford Mill and Steel roads. The shooting took place at that location, according to sources.
After the man was shot by police, officers secured his firearm and aided him until an ambulance arrived.

The badly wounded man was transported by ambulance from the scene to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. He underwent surgery due to his injuries, sources said.
“Both officers were uninjured and are on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” the district attorney’s office said on Tuesday.
The district attorney said their office will investigate the shooting and release names when the probe has been completed.
