Sysco Schruby, 22, of Bristol Township, was sentenced last week by Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Finley to state prison and ordered to not have contact with the victims of the shooting.

In May, Schruby was found guilty following a three-day trial at the Bucks County Justice Center in Doylestown Borough on charges of aggravated assault – attempting to cause serious bodily injury, two counts of aggravated assault – attempting to cause serious injury with a deadly weapon, one count of carrying a firearm without a license, one count of possession of an instrument of crime, and six counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Schruby was found to be behind a November 22, 2019 shooting at the Rodeway Inn at the corner of Green Lane and Route 13 in Bristol Township.

The shooting followed a verbal altercation where Schruby ran into William “Bam-Bam” Flemming III, 30, of Bristol Township, and the two exchanged words. Schruby allegedly remarked “do you think it’s a f**king game?” and “you snitch ass not allowed around here.”

Schruby left the hotel area in the rear seat of a vehicle and was captured on security camera images holding a gun out the window and then firing shots at Flemming and others, including a 4-year-old girl, authorities said.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Authorities accused Flemming of taking out a gun and firing shots back at Schruby as the vehicle he fired from left the area.

Authorities said a witness told them the shooting could have been tied to Flemming being a witness in a nearly-decade-old shooting case.

Schruby was charged last March after a wide-ranging investigation and a grand jury being convened.

Schruby claimed during the trial that he didn’t pull the trigger in the shooting.

Flemming was charged last year with carrying a firearm without a license and reckless endangerment in connection to the shooting. He pleaded guilty to firearms not to be carried without a license last September and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years to 6 years of confinement. He was ordered by Common Pleas Judge Brian McGuffin to not have contact with Schruby.

Schruby is awaiting trial in an unrelated drug case out of Bristol Township.
