Chase Goes From NJ Through Levittown Area

A police chase started in New Jersey and ended in Pennsylvania.

The chase began late Wednesday morning in Mercer County, New Jersey and traveled onto Route 1 through the area and got onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bensalem Township.

A Mercer County Sheriff’s Office deputy chasing the black Infinity Q50 out of New Jersey reported the car was traveling at more than 120 mph, passing on the shoulder, and weaving in and out of traffic in the Levittown area, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

While the car was nearing the Turnpike, the deputy spotted it cross the median and head toward a number of vehicles, state police said.

At 11:59 a.m., troopers from the Keystone State joined the chase as it went from Bucks County into Montgomery County, state police said.

With multiple police vehicles in pursuit, the Infinity stopped on a ramp near in Fort Washington in Upper Dublin, Montgomery County.

Troopers said law enforcement took the driver – Quashawn OC Hightower, 23, of Trenton – into custody.

Hightower was found to not have a valid license, state police said.

Hightower was charged in Bucks County with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge Terry Hughes and jailed in Bucks County on 10 percent of $400,000 bail.

State police did not release why Hightower was being sought by New Jersey authorities.
