It might be hard to believe, but it’s true – there’s “Something Rotten” in the Theodore Kloos Auditorium in Middletown Township this weekend.

“Something Rotten” will be the 59th annual Neshaminy High School musical. The show is under the direction of Kristin Nichols.
While the title of the show might leave one questioning the quality of the performances, the students who make up the cast and crew have certainly kept up the tradition of quality shows started in 1964.
“Something Rotten” is an historical comedy, taking place in 16th century London during the Renaissance. It follows the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel. While everyone is a fan of William Shakespeare, Nick is not as inclined, so enlists the help of an eccentric psychic to try and out-do the Bard. Hilarity ensues, with plenty of laughs, puns, and more than a few references to other musicals. Truly, the only thing “rotten” is how fast the show seems to flow, and the off chance that one might miss something with only one viewing.

In true “Ted Kloos” tradition, the show has two casts, one to perform opening night Thursday, and again on Saturday night, with the other performing Friday Night and the Sunday matinee. The over 90 students comprising the ensemble have put long hours into rehearsing and creating the sets, and their final rehearsals show the dedication these students bring to the stage.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. for the evening shows, and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available online at the Neshaminy musical website.
