‘Danger To Society’ Sentenced To Prison For Shooting Ex-Friend

A Langhorne man was sentenced Tuesday to state prison for shooting a former friend last May.

Jason Brennan, 26, was sentenced Tuesday by President Judge Wallace Bateman to 7.5 to 20 years in state prison. He was ordered to undergo mental health treatment and drug and alcohol treatment.

Brennan was convicted in June by a jury on two counts of aggravated assault and one countย ofย carrying a firearm without a license, which are felonies, and two counts of misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

On the afternoon of May 17, 2020, Falls Township police were dispatched to a residence on Buttonwood Lane for a shooting. They pulled up to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm.

The victim was treated and survived the shooting.

Police said the victim told them Brennan pulled up outside the home in a white Chevrolet Equinox SUV and parked. He went to speak with the man and said: โ€œyou donโ€™t belong here” and โ€œyou better leave.โ€ย 

The man spotted Brennan holding a gun and called out for his girlfriend to take cover and dial 9-1-1. The girlfriend was outside with the coupleโ€™s 2-year-old child at the time, police said.

The man ran into his home and picked up handguns, police said.

Brennan fired at the man and hit him in the arm.

The victim returned fire and struck Brennan’s SUV.

Brennan fled the area and was located in Bristol Township’s Croydon section and arrested, police said.

Investigators said Brennan was found with a handgun. His white SUV had visible bullet holes.

Deputy District Attorney Mary Kate Kohler said during sentencing that Brennan was a “danger to society” and that he never explained why he shot at his ex-friend.

โ€œIt was completely unprovoked,” she said of the shooting.
