Cops: Man Flashed FBI Badge, But Wasn’t With The FBI

A Middletown Township man is accused of flashing what appeared to be a law enforcement badge for an agency where he isn’t sworn.

According to charges filed recently, Middletown Township officers were called to Terrace Road in Levittown on August 30 for a report that a person showing a badge and asked for directions to Tweed Road.

A woman relayed to police that she turned from Oxford Valley Road onto Terrace Road when a car was following her closely. As she pulled off the road, a man jumped out of a blue Nissan Altima and ran up to her, flashing a badge and asking where Tweed Road was located, according to authorities.

The man then ran back to his car and drove off, police said.

Officers responding to the call from the woman and located the man – identified as Joseph Wychock, 53 – on Terrace Road at Trim Road. A gold FBI-type badge was located on the floor of the driver’s seat area, police said.

Court papers stated he “falsely pretended to a hold a position in the public service.”

Wychock was charged via summons with impersonating a public servant.

Police told LevittownNow.com the incident is not connected to one where a man wore a police tag and appeared to carry a weapon.
