Falls Township is ramping up their efforts to clean up litter that is plaguing the community.
The Falls Township Board of Supervisors voted on Monday to approve a maintenance services litter collection agreement with PennDOT that will allow the municipality’s public works crews to clean state-owned roads of trash. Without an agreement in place, township crews were not approved to clean up state roads.

Last month, the supervisors asked residents to help clean up the township and they stated they were stepping up their efforts, including increase police enforcement of catching litter bugs.
“The public works department is doing a great job,” Supervisors Chairman Jeff Dence said this week. “I’ve seen them all over.”
Supervisor John Palmer echoed Dence’s sentiments and said public works crews are doing great work.

“They’re really taking our community back from the litter,” Palmer said. “They’re going back into bushes, behind trees.”
Dence said township crews can now also trim back bushes along Route 1 to help police with traffic enforcement efforts.

Township officials have noted littering issues on Cabot Boulevard, Route 1, and Lower Morrisville Road in recent months.
“Falls residents have inquired about participating in an organized litter cleanup day. Falls Township asks residents wishing to help to consider planning a cleanup in their neighborhood or development and leave the major roadways to township staff. Anyone wishing to pick up litter in their community can request trash bags, rubber gloves and safety vests by emailing Public Works Director Jason Lawson at j.lawson@fallstwp.com,” the township said in a statement.
