The nurses and management at St. Mary Medical Center reached a tentative contract agreement early Friday morning.
Both sides confirmed to LevittownNow.com that the tentative deal between St. Mary Medical Center, which is owned by national not-for-profit hospital chain Trinity Health, and the roughly 800 union nurses that are part of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP).

The details on the potential end of the contract stalemate were not released by either side.
Megan Othersen Gorman, a spokesperson for PASNAP, said the nurses’ union members will be voting Saturday on potential ratification of the deal.
“After many months of good-faith bargaining, St. Mary Medical Center is pleased to announce that it reached a tentative agreement with PASNAP’s bargaining committee for an initial labor contract that is fair, consistent and sustainable,” hospital officials said.

If approved, the contract would be the first for the union that formed last year.
The nurses, who took part in a multi-day strike in November, called for minimum staffing levels and pay rates more in line with similar hospitals. The nurses called for creating set staff to patient ratios at the hospital that has undergone cuts in recent years despite earning more than $50 million in yearly profits.

Bucks County Commissioners Chairperson Diane Ellis-Marseglia, a Democrat, and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a Republican, were among the officials who came out in support of the nurses.
