“A corrections officer found a 46-year-old male prisoner unresponsive in his cell. Medical staff members were called immediately to the cell and began lifesaving efforts until an ambulance arrived,” a statement from the county said.

Medics were unable to revive the 46 year old, and the coroner’s office was called.

The man was being held in the facility on charges of burglary and other offenses. He had been brought into the prison earlier in December, officials said.

County officials did not immediately release the man’s name.

The man’s next-of-kin were alerted of the death.

Bucks County Department of Corrections investigators and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office are involved in the investigation, officials confirmed.

The correctional facility has been locked down recently due to a COVID-19 outbreak among staff and inmates.

While the death occurred Wednesday afternoon, no information on the incident was made public until a call to officials from this news organization on Friday afternoon.
