The number of Levittown-area PECO customers without service has dropped dramatically since Tuesday’s tropical storm.
As of 1 p.m. Thursday, PECO reported approximately 3,430 Levittown-area residents across nearly all municipalities were without service. The number has dropped from a peak of about 27,700 customers on Tuesday evening and 12,700 on Wednesday at noon.

The outages were caused by Tropical Storm Isaias that whipped through the area Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.
A portion of Old Lincoln Highway in Middletown Township was one of the few remaining roads closed due to storm damage.
Across Bucks County, there were 11,300 PECO customers in the dark, according to an 11 a.m. utility update. The Doylestown area was struck by a tornado and had significant damage.

“PECO crews, contractors, and support personnel will continue to work around the clock until all damage has been repaired and all service has been restored. We’re also working to secure additional assistance from outside the region to support storm restoration efforts, including crews from our Exelon sister utility, ComEd in Chicago,” PECO said in a statement.
As part of PECO’s storm recovery efforts, crews from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Texas were on their way.

PECO said that at the height of the outages, more than 425,000 customers in their coverage region were impacted.
