Levittown-Area Secures $5 Million In Funding Through State Program

Millions of dollars in state funding are headed to local municipalities and organizations after the state’s Local Share Account program announced its awards recently.

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County and the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority will receive $1 million to acquire, remediate, and redevelop seven to 12 vacant or blighted properties in Bristol Borough, Bristol Township, Morrisville Borough, and Warminster Township to create permanently affordable homes through the Habitat Bucks Land Trust model.

State Sen. Steve Santarsiero and State Rep. Jim Prokopiak, both Democrats, announced the Tullytown Fire Company will get $450,000 for a replacement pumper truck.

“The LSA grants that were awarded today continue to invest in our communities in Lower Bucks County,” said Prokopiak. “These are critical investments in our future – strengthening our first responders in Tullytown with life-saving equipment.”

Bucks County Technical High School is getting $800,000 for the regional facility’s Welding and Machining Program.

State Sen. Frank Farry, a Republican, announced Middletown Township is due $593,500 for upgrades at Forsythia Crossing Park in the Levittown section of the township. In addition, the Penndel Middletown Emergency Squad will get $387,126 for the purchase of a bariatric ambulance for regional responses.

“Whether it’s upgrading emergency response capabilities, improving local infrastructure, or enhancing opportunities for children and families, these grants will provide meaningful benefits for residents,” Farry said.

Santarsiero and State Rep. Tina Davis, both Democrats, said $900,000 has been awarded to Bristol Borough for the Green Lane storm pipe replacement, $71,161 for International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local Lodge 13 for an HVAC project, and $144,300 to Mental Health Partnerships for three minivans for a mobile peer outreach project in Bristol Township.

The Green Lane pipe replacement project has been on the borough’s radar for a while as flooding has plagued Green Lane under the railroad line. The project will replace the existing undersized stormwater pipe, replace the check valve at the river outfall, and restore all impacted roadways.

“Flooding is a serious and growing concern for communities across Pennsylvania, and investing in stormwater infrastructure is one of the most important things we can do to protect our residents and our local economy,” said Santarsiero.

Santarsiero, Davis, and State Rep. Joe Hogan, a Republican, announced $250,000 is being awarded to Levittown Fire Company No. 2 to replace an aging piece of apparatus with a new one.

“This funding will help address several very real needs in our community, and the associated projects will help Bristol Borough better manage flooding, as well as ensure Bristol Township has adequate fire response vehicles, proper job training facilities, and access to outreach teams for people who need support,” said Davis.

Farry and Hogan’s offices said the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority will get $314,384 to purchase 44 hospital beds for St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township.

“These projects support key municipal and healthcare improvements, making our community a safer and stronger place to live for everyone who chooses to make the 142^nd District home without increasing your tax dollars,” Hogan said.

The statewide Local Share Account program allows for the distribution of gaming revenues to support projects in local municipalities.
