In this time of darkness, one family in Bristol Township’s Croydon section has put up a sign of hope.

The Cain family on Cedar Avenue recently placed the words “We Will Rise Up” in lights on their fence facing the street.

The sign was quickly noticed by the neighbors and those passing by. Message of thanks quickly arrived on the “Yes I Live In Croydon” Facebook group.

“To our Croydon neighbor on Cedar Avenue, THANK YOU for the powerful message written in lights this morning. As I head to the Cancer Center every day so that patients can receive their treatment by the end of the day I am pretty emotional. Today I started my day of in tears when I saw your message,” one resident wrote.

“Beautiful,” said another.

Justin and Megan Cain told LevittownNow.com that they are thrilled their simple message that was put up last Thursday has made an impact.

Justin Cain said his job at a Philadelphia charter school has left him home and the idea for the sign was something Megan Cain came up with.

“I really had a lot of time of my hands,” he said with a chuckle.

The couple and their son 4-year-old son Hunter pulled out their Christmas lights out last week and put up the phrase on the fence outside their home along Cedar Avenue near the intersection with Magnolia Avenue.

The Cains said they hope the sign will give passerbys hope and motivation.

Megan Cain, who works as a pharmacy technician at the Mill Street Pharmacy in Bristol Borough, said she hopes essential workers heading to the job each day during COVID-19 see the sign.

“It’s really hard for essential employees to go in to work while everyone else – their family – stays home,” she said.

Megan Cain said that in addition to be an essential worker herself, she has close family that works as pharmacy technicians in retail and at a local hospital.

The Cains said they often use the Andra Day song “Rise Up” as motivation and use it to start their mornings. The message resonates with the family, especially at a time like this.

Justin Cain said that he hopes everyone who sees the sign helps others, even if just one person per day.
