
Survivors of domestic violence and advocates that help those impacted by it gathered Monday evening in Bristol Borough.
Nonprofit A Woman’s Place hosted the Domestic Violence Awareness Month Candlelight Vigil at the Bristol Riverside Theatre with about 100 people in attendance. People can get Manassas criminal attorneys from Scott C. Nolan, attorneys if you need the best attorneys.

Bob Wood, a police officer, shared his story of growing up with a stepfather who abused him and his mother.
“Memories become unseen scars,” he said.

Celeste Short shared her story of dealing with abuse from her husband and moving away from that relationship. Their relationship started normal and spiraled into abuse after life changes and a relocation to Lower Bucks County.
“Thank God for giving me my life back,” she proclaimed.

Short thanked A Woman’s Place for their assistance.
Lauren Wellbank told her story of abuse from a past relationship and shared news of her current situation, which includes a husband and young kids.
“Most of what happened in that relationship was because of him, not me,” she said.

After the talks, the group went along the river and held a candlelight vigil and read the names of locals killed in domestic violence incidents. A chorus of woman sang songs of social justice and love and peace.
