Midday Commute Slick Due To Snowfall

Road conditions quickly went down hill Thursday afternoon as snow from a coastal storm struck to pavement.

LevittownNow.com readers reported slick conditions on Trenton Road in Hulmeville Borough, Cedar Avenue in Bristol Township’s Croydon section, and throughout Falls Township’s Fallsington section.

On Route 1 in Falls Township, the lanes of travel were covered by snow and slush. The situation was a bit better on I-95 in Bristol Township and I-295 in Middletown, but traffic was moving slowly.

An unofficial measurement of snow in Levittown by a reader at work indicted 2 inches had fallen by 1:15 p.m.

Forecasters expected between a trace to 2 inches. They also said sleet, freezing rain, and rain are expected later Thursday afternoon and will continue into Friday morning. Accumulation of snow is expected to stop by late afternoon.

Several area schools and places of higher education cancelled classes or dismissed early.
