SEPTA is warning commuters that there will be travel impacts this week and next on the Trenton Line due to Amtrak work.
The transit agency said Amtrak will begin replacing a “critical switch used by both SEPTA and Amtrak trains traveling towards 30th Street Station” starting Sunday at 9 p.m. and continuing until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10.

SEPTA said temporary service changes on the Trenton, Cynwyd, Chestnut Hill East, Chestnut Hill West, and Fox Chase and Paoli/Thorndale lines will happen due to the work. He said there might be delays and temporary service changes.
Below is the information on the changes from SEPTA:
Temporary Weekday service changes will be required to help alleviate congestion within the Amtrak work zone. Weekend service (Saturday and Sunday) trains will operate according to the current schedule; however, trains may experience in-service delays of up to 15 minutes between North Philadelphia and 30th Street Stations.
INBOUND SERVICE (towards Center City):
Service from Trenton Transit Center
Train #7408 departing at 6:31 a.m. will not run. As an alternate, customers should take Train #7406 departing at 6:15 a.m.
Train #7534 departing at 7:04 a.m. will not run. As an alternate, customers should take Train #9724 departing at 7:14 a.m.
- These trains will operate with 8 cars
Trains #9700 and #9730 will depart according to the published schedule between Trenton and 30th Street Amtrak – Lower Level Platform
- These trains will not make stops at Suburban or Jefferson Stations
- For continuing travel to Center City and connections to other SEPTA trains, customers should go upstairs to the mezzanine to connect with any INBOUND train
- Train #752, departing at 3:20 p.m. and Train #768 departing at 6:23 p.m. will not run
OUTBOUND SERVICE (towards Trenton):
Service from Center City
Train #727 departing Suburban at 1:50 p.m. will not run
Train #9741 (departing Suburban at 3:50 p.m.) will originate at 30th Street Station and board from 30th Street Amtrak Lower Level Platform (stairway 9)
- Customers who normally take this train from Temple University, Jefferson, or Suburban Stations can take a train to 30th Street Station and connect to #9741. Visit the Regional Rail schedules page for service options or use Google Transit
Train #9745 will operate with LOCAL service to Trenton Transit Center, departing Suburban at 4:50 p.m. and making stops as all stations (except Eddington Station)
Train #743 departing Suburban at 4:29 p.m. will not run. As an alternate, customers should take Train #9745 departing Suburban at 4:50 p.m.
Train #9749 departing Suburban at 5:20 p.m. will not run. As an alternate, customers should take #Train #9747, departing Suburban at 5:11 p.m.
