A contractor working for PennDOT will begin a project to repave northbound Route 1 from Bensalem to Langhorne Manor starting Sunday.

According to officials, lane restrictions will run from the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange in Bensalem through Middletown to Bellevue Avenue in Langhorne Manor. Work will take place Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Thursday, May 24.

The existing pavement will be milled and a new layer of asphalt will be laid, officials said.

The work is part of a $7.5 million project that will resurface 27 miles of state highway in the county.

PennDOT warned that drivers should expect delays in the work zone.

The southbound lanes of Route 1 between Langhorne Manor and Bensalem were repaved in 2015 after the roadway began breaking apart.
