After a merger between Aria Health and Jefferson Health was completed in July 2016, Aria Health’s Bucks County campus on Oxford Valley Road in Falls Township has become Jefferson Bucks Hospital.

The recent re-branding of the hospital drops the Aria title from the facility’s name, but the legacy of Aria Health is not forgotten. After the merger, the new organization that put together the two health care companies became Aria-Jefferson Health. The other former Aria hospitals in Philadelphia are now recognized as a Jefferson medical center, including Jefferson Torresdale Hospital just across the Philadelphia border in Bensalem.

“Bringing Aria and Jefferson together is another significant step forward, as a progressive organization, to do things differently for the benefit of patients, medical professionals, employees, faculty and students in the regions that we all serve,โ€ said Dr. Stephen Klasko, president and CEO of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health at the time of the merger completion. โ€œThere are deep similarities between the cultures of Jefferson and Aria and a shared commitment to reimagining health care access and delivery.”

According to a Jefferson Health spokesperson, the adoption of the Jefferson brand took place in phases. The first phase, the spokesperson explained, served to educate Aria’s patients about the merger. The second phase was a full adoption of the Jefferson name and logo at the Aria hospitals.

The combined organizations now have 23,000 total employees, 5,000 physicians and practitioners, 5,770 nurses and 2,217 inpatient beds.
