The Middletown Buffalo Wild Wings is among the more than 1,200 locations that Arby’s Restaurant Group will be acquiring as part of a $2.9 billion deal.
Fast-food chain Arby’s, which is backed by Roark Capital Group, announced Tuesday it has come to an agreement to purchase Buffalo Wild Wings, a sport bar chain often called “B-Dubs.” The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018.

We look forward to leveraging the combined strengths of both organizations into a truly differentiated and transformative multi-brand restaurant company,” Paul Brown, CEO of Arby’s, said in a statement.
Buffalo Wild Wings will become a subsidiary of Arby’s and will be operated independently. There have been no statements to indicate changes to the sport bar chain’s footprint.
Buffalo Wild Wings opened along Lincoln Highway near the Oxford Valley Mall in 2011. The sport bar took the closed Don Pablo’s Mexican Kitchen location. A Buffalo Wild Wings opened in Warrington in 2015.

USA Today reported that investment bank UBS analysts noted Buffalo Wild Wings has faced some challenges in recent years, including a steep increase in the cost of chicken wings. Across its locations, according to VinePair.com, Buffalo Wild Wings sells more than 27 million wings a week.
Arby’s has more than 3,300 locations around the globe and is partly owned by Wendy’s. Arby’s operates nearby locations in the Queen Anne Plaza in Bristol Township and along Street Road in Lower Southampton.
