Middletown is selling numerous older vehicles and planning to purchase three new police cars.
The Board of Supervisors voted Monday evening to sell seven vehicles as a single lot to a bidder for $1,200. The vehicles have seen better days during their tours with township departments and are all not able to be driven. Township mechanics were able to use the older vehicles for parts to keep the current fleet on the road, according to Middletown public information official Lisa Berkis.

Board Chairman Tom Gallagher said the sale is “basically for the value of the scrap metal.”
The winning bidder has 14 days to remove the vehicles from the township.
The supervisors voted to table a decision to purchase three new police cruisers after some confusion over the resolution.

Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla said the three 2017 Police Interceptor sedans would be purchased from Koch 33 Automotive ย in Easton for $128,089. The cruiser would also be outfitted for patrol use.
The patrol vehicles would be paid for through capital funds and $17,000 from a Bucks County Redevelopment Authority casino grant. The township has also received money for two police cruisers that were totaled – one in December and one last month – and will put those funds toward the new cars, Bartorilla said.
The chief said the department can wait until the supervisors are able to vote again to purchase the vehicles.
