Dollar General received preliminary and final land development last month from the Falls Township Board of Supervisors.

The Board of Supervisors required that the new Dollar General install sidewalks in front of the 7,489-square-foot store that will sit on a 1.7-acre lot situated at 1279 Old Bristol Pike. The lot is currently vacant and unused.

Representatives from Dollar General requested a waiver for the sidewalks but the supervisors turned them down. The governing body believed the sidewalks were needed because the store would likely draw walkers from the nearby Wawa at  Old Bristol Pike and Penn Valley Road and the nearby mobile home communities.

“There’s definitely going to be walk up traffic to the store,” Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said. “This is a store that’s going to attract a lot of kids from the neighborhood. I think it’s incumbent to put the sidewalk in. It’s for the safety of the people.”

The new Dollar General would feature 33 parking spots, an enclosed trash area and a loading dock area.

Dollar General, which is based in Tennessee and operates 12,400 stores, runs nearby stores on Pine Street in Langhorne Borough and along Route 13 in Bristol Borough.
